Hello people. I'm planning to get a new tank started and am toying with the idea of having ADA soil in it. I understand there are a few types and I'm not sure which one to get. Would I still need gravel on the top layer? What would be the amount needed for a 24x18x18inches tank? I intend to plant glosso, hairgrass and perhaps some moss.

    Please advice. Thanks.

    ADA soil

Not really sure. Seeking advice from those currently using or have experience using the soil before.

I used 9L pack of ADA africana for my 2ftx1ft (about 1inch tick foreground and 2inch thick background), no gravel on top and no base fert below. All my plants is growing. Mistake that I made was washing the soils and fill 1/3 of the tank water before planting. It causing my water cloudy for first 2 days.

ADA Amazonia soil would be a good choice, can use without adding base fertiliser. It can have a lower PH and water hardness effect and I noticed cherry shrimps became redder. It cost more and really worth it because I have had grown glosso or E. Tenellus and they spread fast.
