it may be "new water syndrom" ..
had you just done a big water change?
or on the other side, it may be buildup of nitrate or even nitrite in your tank.

but sound like just a little irritation to me

do a partial water change abt 30%
add salt (abt 1 heaping teaspoon to 20 litres) and see how it goes.

HA! Both wrong. It is the WHITE SPOT syndrome. Under treatment now...must be the sand I tranfered from the other tank that used to be infested.

white spots can be triggerd by sudden temperature swings and water quality

likewise, water quality and condition can trigger more the just white spots too.

cannot isolate a disease by itself coz it doesnt work this way always

white spot treatement is not just abt isolating fish and objects.

it is about improving wellbeing of the fish from within.
because the protozoa can be in any tank. But they manifest on weaker/stressed fish.

sratching is a major sign of white spot, but i was thinking white spot is such an apparent disease that you should have known it. So was thinking of other less obvious causes instead. No need medication. Just maintain good water quality, avoid temp swing as much as you can and use salt.

Yah, didn't see them close enough for the last two weeks until last night. One of the darkened fellas came close to the front...then realized. Was very surprised at first cos' the white spots not really obvious due to the markings on their body.

Using salt treatment now. My poor JDs'
