    I need advice urgently.

I have a pair of Apistogramma trifasciata in a small 1.5ft tank with some fries about 5mm to 1 cm. The problem is I discovered that the female has laid eggs again. From my previous experience, the fries is too small to be remove.

Can I just leave them as it is and hope for the best?

Another question, how come the eggs are reddish in colour in time round?

    Cheers.

    2 kinds of results:

    1) female may eat up the fries and proceed to care for the eggs

    2) female ignore the present fries and care for the eggs at the same time

    Update.

    Hi all,

Here is the update of the situation, I have decided to leave it as it is. The good thing is the father fish is not harrassing them (touch wood) and the mother seems to be busy with both batches..

The eggs have hatched is now on the floor of the flower pot.

Please refer to the picture, on the floor of the flower pot, you will see bunch of red colour fry that has just hatched and you will also see 2 bigger fry from the previous batch.

Feeding the juvenile fish with self hatch baby brine shrimp (BBS) daily. The belly is always rounded, hopefully with this, they will not be thinking of what you guys are thinking.

    Just to share some updates:

I have move the male to another tank as I saw it chasing the female around.

The first batch of fries is growing well and living peacefully with the new batch.

Wow!! Nice fellows....I've got 2 batches of fries as well, one is 6weeks old and 2econd batch is nearly 1 week old....I'm a bit scared to put both batches together, currently having a divider to separate them... when is a suitable time to put them together?

    Wow, congrats to you too.

Your situation may be different from my, the mama laid the second batch in the same tank as the first batch. What I have done so far is separate the male after the second batch babies is free swimming.

Thanks Joe....Now the pair is together while both batches of fries are separated... I'll wait till the 2nd batch of fries is 1month old then i'll mix it with the 1st batch.... currently, the 1st batch of fries are showing early signs of coloration on their dorsal and caudal fins!!!
