Has anyone got pics of a wolf cichild's juvernile? I think I might have gotten one by accident. This little fella is terrorizing GT's twice of his size and challenging the salvinis' equal to him. And the way he whacks them is really vicious.

lsz, should be i think. nothing else seems to match the terrorizing criteria except for the dovii [:0]

eZion, there's lots of pics stored up in some big cichlid websites. try to do a search on Yahoo for wolf cichlid. most of the sites should show a few pics of both the adult and juvenile wolf cichlid. [:]

storm, i read size for size there are many fish as aggressive or more aggressive than dovii but exceptions occur everywhere so thats generally speaking too.
I have not any experience with this fish to comment myself.

issac, i read somewhere you are ordering dovii from Dovii also? Perhaps u can verify this weekend..

from what i saw, the babies are more or less scaled down version of the adults, but they have a distinct horizontal stripe (guapote characteristic) on a light background.
    Head is already big.

this is a not big not small fish

If this happens to be a dovii... then where did ya obtain it from? Or was there only one specimen... ?

Been searching for one as long as I can remember, but would like it cheap.

From the pic LSZ provided , i believe i saw one of those at C328 the other time.
Cich-O , can verify ? ( remember the one that was alone in a tank full of some other species , bottom row tanks on the left ? )

ya, its very similar to that fella in one of my tanks...but the markings slightly different and its head is also not so big. At first I thought it looks like a red terror but it doesn't have the red fins or tail.
But then again, it also looks like this Jag below than the one posted by LSZ.

Trying to get a pic of it up ASAP for ID.

    Hi art!

You mean the fish I bought at C328 for $9? That one is a P. loisellei, it looked like a jag/wolf at 1st glance, because it was pretty slim at the lfs. It should, by right, be fuller/rounder in appearance than a jag or wolf. As it grows older, its colour starts to darken into an orangey-gold.

Temperament-wise, it is a pretty mild cichlid...

Colour a bit washed-out because of the flash = Still learning...

Thanx eZion... the colour looks so light because of the flash lar, should be darker actually, a bit orangey. =)

Hope to see a pic of your new fish soon so we can ID it... =)

had been seeing Loisellei in shops here and there since quite some time ago.

But they are often overlooked or un-identified because of low exposure compared to the likes of jaguar, motaguense etc.

i think Cich-O bought one of the last pieces from clementi and had posted for the identity of this fish.
And this fish was brought to a little more attention since.

art already spotted this cichlid @ Bedok North, faster go & buy. [] But if I do spot it somewhere else I'll keep y'all informed.

The P.loisellei can grow up to 12"... so be prepared to provide it w/ adequate tank space. =)

    Happy fishkeeping
