    hihi,

I have just setup a 1.5ft tank, with 1 thin layer of soil and 2" thick of black gravels. Currently only Riccia, moss, some HC and glosso r in the tank with 2bpm of CO2, lighting 36W PLC.
The tank is next to window but does not have direct sunlight.

No fauna yet, water about a week old and the whole glass surface start to have algae.... I wonder what algae is this and what fauna is appropriate to clear this mess up? can bumble bee snails do the job?

in another small 1ft tank, all my plants r badly cover with one layer of brown substance that can be scrapped off easily.... I have bought a small sucker fish that looks like a mini sting ray but it doesn't do the job.

    Any help is appreciate.

    Mind posting a picture,

I think it may be the brown algae, or if too much lights, maybe the green dust algae. A picture will certainly help, Thanks!

sound like brown algae or diatom . Happen in new tank. Otto would be a good one for this algae.
