my CRS are in my office nano tank.
Each tank contain Ada soil and lots of moss with a hang-on filter.
in my opinion 27-28C is too high for crs... it should be about 26C and below.
My office tank is about 23C with fan+office aircon.

    wow nice setup.
i have 5 cheapo CRS bought from farm and they are staying in my 3ft tank with no fans and chiller. so i think my tempreature is also about 28degree.
So i think it should be fine for them. Any comments?
Just starting out and wanted to learn more too.

    Cheers!

In other websites, I see people able to sucessfully breed CRS with 27C..Im starting with cheap ones anyway...Just asking will riccia and gravel be enough???

In my conuntry it´s not necesary cooling the water (only 2 or 3 month per year), most part of the year I only need heat the tanks. I keep temp around 23ēC.

CRS can live at 28ēC but they cann´t breed in that high temperature, minimum bredding temp is 26ēC.

    Thanks for the comments guys

I think it would good to buy a fan to cool the Temperature down a bit at least... But then again a 3 Footer might be too big for fans to bring down the Temperature...

Sorry to say a Chiller would be a better option (Expensive option)

But I tried using a fan at first but gave up as the Temperature could be as high as 29 in the day & 25 in the night (My tank is in my room)... Temperature fluctuations too high...

I agree, also they are healthier and have better color in cooler temperatures

    Hi,

So do you mean even if the parent CRS/Diamond is grade C, their off-spring can be better grade than their parent i.e. B or even A?

Yes, not often but you will get some that are higher grade as well as some that are lower grade.

If you can get lots of offspring with a tedious selection of the better shrimplest you can get nice high grades... at least I think.
