Hi all, I am attracted by the beauty of crs. I really want to learn how to breed it. Any pro got learning guide or advice or steps to breed them?

Do use the search function at the top of your right. There have been many previous discussions on this where there are plenty of information available.

    Here is one, for example:

I haven set-up anything yet. I planned to do so after getting enough information(Student mah... no money to keep try and error). Things like what type of tank most suitable, type of gravel, plants, type of filter and stuff.
From what i read so far,
    1) a small tank will do
    2) black quartz gravel will be nice
    3) hang on filter can be use for small tank but must add sponge to the suction point
    4) need to use fan to cool water
    5) Just need to grow some moss to go with them. (Can riccia?) Must the Moss to fully grown before i add in the shrimp?

    Any more to add?

    tank: 25cm cube
    filter: Hang-on-filter
    media: rough sponge only
light: 48/72watt t5 light (share with my 1.5ft)
    soil: ada soil (3cm)
co2: 1 bubble per second using co2 atomizer
tankmate: 1 nitrite zebra snail + 13 'B' & 2 'C' crs and some cherry shrimps(try my best to get rid of cherry but always have them every months.. give up!!)
plant: petite nana, nana and peacock and spiky moss.
    temp: 23-24 degree
fert: seachem flourish (doze a few drop after top-up)
    food: shirakura algae food
no algae so far and never measure ph, kh or gh..

bought some crs a few days before CNY and only 1 death so far due to my mistakes as i accidentally killed one of them.. Currently only 3 crs are carrying eggs for 2 weeks.. can see some red colour eggs inside the pregnant crs.. waiting for them to hatch soon.. this batch is 2nd times.. 1st batch given birth to 8 baby crs.. now semi-teenagers in separate tank.. dun need to change 10% water as i only do top-up since is a small tank.. water never aged and add anti-chloramine and anti-chlorine and straight away into the tank.. will post some pictures of the tank( can't post the whole front view as blocked by another tank).. sorry for lousy pictures..

Actually, any plants will do, but moss is more oftenly used because the setup can be one of low maintenance, CO2 may not be necessary and they can cling onto the moss. It is all up to you actually.

The other things to be mindful of are acclimitisation of the shrimps to the tank, quality of the water used for water changes and percentage of the water changes. Shrimps generally do not like drastic parameter changes.

will be good if you can lower the ph of your water, aas well as have a good biological filtration = ]

    Hi guys,

It is a must that u need chiller to breed and keep crs? Can they survive in temp of 27-28C?

Quite keen 2 start a crs tank.

when i kept my crs in my 1.5ft tank in my rm last time, i only installed a fan, and at times the temp would climb till 28-29degrees celcius.. but of course, it would be advisable to maintain the water at a constant and low temp, and i guess the best way to do so in a place like singapore would be to use a chiller = ] not to mention you dont have to keep topping up the water lost due to evaporation from using the fan

Ya man... the topping up of water every couple of days really becoming a bother. Especially when its a small tank.

i see people use a sponge to cover the suction part of the filter to prevent small shrimp from being sucked in

This hobby is not cheap. You will need to have basic setup with chiller. And the nicer crs will cost alot.

Not a must to have chiller. Initially started without chiller, my crs did not reproduce. So i lower my temp with ice bottles and the crs start to reproduce. Lower temperature wil induce mating i believe.

some people use a undergravel filter, which prevents the shrimplets from being sucked into the filter = ]
