I recently set up a blackwater biotope tank as well. It is mainly driftwood and bogwood branches and snipped up ketapang leaves.

Part of the substrate is ADA aquasoil to lower my pH with Europet sand at the front for cories to play.

Current plants are hornwort, Amazon frogbits, Echinodorus parviflorus 'Tropica' and E. 'Ozelot Green'...

Current fauna are (I know it is overstocked): Corydoras trilineatus, Ancistrus dolichopterus (L183), Dekeyseria brachyura (aka L168 or Butterfly pleco), L263 (Peckoltia sp.) and L129 (Hypancistrus sp).

I was hoping the leaves will break down... Hahah... Okie, will tear them up to smaller pieces tomorrow.

The pleco you passed me is in another tank. Seems like it is an Ancistrus sp to me rather than a Hypancistrus sp.

The wood in my tank is made up 3 types... There is also a few "ADA" wood... Bloody expensive.

For the bogwood branches (those that float), I got them from OTF Aquarium @ Pasir Ris. I picked up those broken branches from the shelves where they put the mangrove roots. You can try there again see got any now or not...

It is a 1.5ft x 40cm x 1.5ft... Hence types of plecos which I chose for the tank...

I chose the smaller species of the echinodorus for fear of the explosion in size... Hopefully they will kwai kwai stay small...

Looking good. How many cories are in there?

Is that a fish (Nannostomus?) that I see near the right side glass?

No heater. That metallic thing is bubble from the sponge filter which is acting as a biological filter. This tank is overfiltered. Using a Eheim 2213 as well.

Really very difficult to spot my plecos. Always in hiding.

Nice! But I don't think you can really see your fauna. Seems a bit tight.

Have you check with Azmi for the 3 line pencil fishes?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I can only see the cories and the pencils and now the apistogramma.
but a few of the plecos are getting adventurous and venturing out to the open.

Here are a couple of shots of the occupants to share with you all.

I starting to love A.bitaeniata for their finnage and subtle colouring. And looks like I am having a pair coming up soon.

And one shot of the Dekeyseria brachyura (L16 that I have in the tank. Think it is very cute!

And one picture of the playful C.trilineatus... Sounds so overloaded...

Hope I can capture the other cats in the tank to share with you guys.
