If possible try not to get the Ecco range. I feel that they are not as good as the Pro series

2028 and 2228 are quite equavalent but 2028 has priming system which I think is most useful.
    Cheers!!

if got money sure buy the 2028 but the problem of priming can be solved by the valves.anyway heard from chris that ecco series give a lot of problem cos the quality not that good.issit it correct???

2028 priming as good as not having a priming system
the easiest way is still to suck on the output hose to start the full siphon
if possible get the 2228, but they're out of production if i'm not wrong

what do you mean? the 222x series have a disconnect valve built in already
unless you want to have two different places to disconnect it?

so the built in valves is detachable from the canister itself??if that the case extra valves r not necessary already.me not into the pro series so pardon for being country bumpkin..... [:]

cannot compare 2228 with 2235 because they are very different in capacity..

2228 capacity is close to twice that of 2235

IMO, apart from those classic series.. u dun have to get the valves.. the rest of the series have auto shut off valves which u are able to shut off and have the water remain inside.. so that when u reattach them after cleaning the filter, u are able to open the valves and voila.. the filter is primed!!!! at least that is what happen to my 2224

i had personally tried and felt other canister brands before

I can only say one thing, Eheim is well worth the every extra cent you pay. Objectively speaking, eheim is still way ahead in terms of built quality and reliability.

    power wise also...
i had compared a 1000L/hr eheim with a 1000L/hr taiwanese make...the difference is remarkable. So do not always believe what you see on the box. a lousy 1300L/hr filter may not always be stronger than a good 1000L/hr. Plus smaller manufacturers, who have nothing to lose, will try to bend ard and give inaccurate specifications. Some flow rates are stated for Empty canisters running. Once the media are in there is a hell of difference..

from what i see, most brands we see here can try to undercut eheim in terms of price. But not to surpass the quality buck for buck

there are 3 kinds of eheim users i can think of

    (1) new to fishkeeping, but wants to get the best. So after asking ard, found that ppl always talk abt eheim. So get eheim.

    (2) had been thru the stage above, and very staisfied, so just stuck to it

    (3) old time users, who had tried other brands before, but eventually still went back for eheim. And appreiciate eheim even more.

for me.. i tried other brands by trying to cut cost but in the end still go back to Eheim coz the breakdown rate is very expensive.. now.. dun bother to think.. just grab eheim.. those $30-50 save is worth it when things starts to break down and u dun find replacement parts or the duration of usage prior to breakdown..[:]
