Considering on whether to DIY a tank hood or not.

Need help on wiring up two tubes of 4 ft long FL, 36watts tubes, not 40 watts. What do I need to buy?

2 tubes 36w 4ft long lights of course
    2 fuse
2 iron ballast, no need E-ballast, need the heat, not used for planted
    2 switches
2 set of red and blue wirings, life and neutral

What else did I left out? Where can I get this one shot cheap? Kelatan lane near sungei rd?

Was thinking to just buy the lights used at home, on the ceilings, because everything is already done, only need to glue the thing to the tank hood and wire to a switch. Is this workable? The 4 ft long lights at home ceilings are also 36 watts, but I noticed that the tubes are a bit shorter than aquarium tubes, about 2 or 3 mm shorter, so need your comments.

    Pls help.

Normally 4ft tubes are standard length. Not sure why shorter.

Anyway, the things you listed are more or less there.

    - 2 FL tubes
    - 2 starters (not fuse)
    - 2 starter holders
    - 2 sets of tube holders
    - 2 40W ballast (can use for 36W tubes, no problem)
    - some mounting screws
    - some cables, 2 core will be fine.

I wouldn't suggest using the one fully assemble to mount onto the hood. It will stick out too much and it is simply tooooo unsightly.

Kelantan rd. will be your best place to get everything. I'm sure they have everything you need. It will be slightly cheaper too. But If you have a hardware store near your place, the price wouldn't differ too much and it will save you the inconvenience of travelling all the way too town and carrying the goods all the way home. Those mentioned items are pretty common so no worries there.

Good luck in your DIY project. I would offer to help but me leaving to Thailand tommorrow.... sianz
    Cheers!!

Thank you for help, there is a DIY shop below my house, maybe I go ask that guy.

The one whole assembly thing simple mah, hehe. Maybe give up the idea if too complicated and loss morale, just get a ocean free 4 ft double tube light, 60 dollar without the trouble. But the 4ft Oceanfree light tubes only 3 ft long...

I just converted my FL lights to PL. I have 4 spare Iron Ballast and starters and I didn't want to throw them away. You want them? A bit old though.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Florence, the lights are normal FL, TYP69 is this price, but currently no stock, Nature have stock, about same price, few dollars more only.

Vinz, you are very kind... But I now considering E ballast too.

Does Chan change E ballast for people, maybe I bring my current tank hood there for him to do, then watch how he do and then go home do myself. Hehe.
