Does Fissiden grip on to driftwood?

Hi all

I tied my Fissiden to DW and now it's growing quite welll. However, due to my not-so-good tying skills, some of the black thread is coming out. I want to remove the thread but not sure whether the Fissden will come out.

Any advice please?

how long have it been tied to the wood? and do u see any new growth out of the tied fissidens? it all depends, if there is growth and you are confident that it already stick to the wood then its okey to remove it but if not either let the thread be there (if does not cause any obstruction) or my suggestion tied a newer thread over it so as to hold it long enough untill the fissidens stick to the wood.

What type of fissiden you have? For what i know, us fissiden do cling onto driftwood.

I am tieing Fissidens fontanus onto my driftwood too. i guess it would take sometime for the Fissidens to stick to the wood depending on the condition. (maybe around 2-3mths?). maybe you can try what i did, which is to untie a portion of the tied part to see if it is already stick to the wood. A pic of your wood with the fissidens would be great All the Best wasabi8888!

My US fissiden does attach itself onto the driftwood. But probably some of the roots are anchor onto the thread so might have some problems removing the thread. Just like pellia or moss.

Probably now is a good time to spread them. You could force loose fissiden into cracks and splits of the driftwood, thus eliminating the need for thread.

i agree with what leeruisheng said, "fissiden does attach itself onto the driftwood. But probably some of the roots are anchor onto the thread so might have some problems removing the thread". so got to be careful when removing the thread.

I got 2 pieces of driftwood. One with US fissiden, one with thai fissiden. The one with US fissiden, the original pieces of fissiden fall off after sometime but somehow tiny fissiden leaves are sprouting all over the driftwood even at places that was not originally covered. The Thai fissiden one was not doing so well, Keeps falling off and the pieces are now all over the bottom of my tank. It just refuse to cling. Haiz....give up on it already. Maybe they will drift till they find somewhere they like and grow there.

Removed the thread on one DW with US Fissiden. Like what most bros said, some moss that are stuck to the thread does fall off, the rest clings on to the DW. will continue to monitor.. thanks guys..
