Fish to tank ratio?

Hi all,

Anybody knows a good site to see this figure?

I have a 5 x 2 x 2 (80% full) bare tank (lots of drift wood), running 1 x canister ehiem 2028 and 1 x overhead filter (OHF). Currently have about 120 Cardinals running inside the tank, I want to see how many more i can safely put in.

BTW I got all the jumbo cardinals from Gan aquarium, with proper acclimatisation, the mortality rate is zero percent! Very impressed with these hardy fishes

Try searching 'fish load' on Google or your favourite search engine.

The bad old formula was 1 inch of fish per gallon, but well, imagine putting a 24" arowana in a 24 gallon tank.

Personally, better not to overload in case of power outage. If the power cuts out just after you leave for work, and assuming no one is at home, that's about 8+hrs (assuming you work typical hours) without filtration. A high fishload tank will definitely see casualties.

I says 1 inch of slim body fish per gallon, slim body defined as tetra So my 5x2x2 tank at 80% full is 120 gallons, which means only 120 tetras....

That is bad... was thinking of stocking up to 200 fishes in my tank

i agree with shadow....
plants will help remove or should i say recycled the bioload
