    hi nick

have you bought the mh yet, cause now Ocean Free has a MH lamp hood with high stand. Think Jacian has bought one..... As for using a lamp stand...hmmm can be an option and is depending if the ballast and ignitor is housed seperately. If not the stand may not take the weight.

How much is that? And where to get it from? Will go down and take a look and maybe buy if the price is quite ok? Thanks, david.

on this one think you have to ask Jacian about the price....if I remember it right, he mentioned about 200+. The places I have seen it is at Aquamart and H2O

alternatively, u can consider using metal support attached to the cabinet or metal stand.. if u got a chance to go Nature, ask chan to show u his Japanese version of AquaJournal.. there is a issue which shows how Amano suspend a MH without any drilling on the walls...

Aiyah... juz went H20 today, but didn't walk into the tanks section. What a waste! Ok, will find out about this. Thanks. Anyway, off topic concerning H20. Seen their fish tanks and it seems to me some of their tanks, water conditions quite bad. Poor fishes dying. Got one tank, all the dwarf cichlids dead. Poor thing. Also got one tank 3 big discus. All 3 turn black liao, they still dun do anything. One of them, his body also bend, if you know what I mean... the body is BENT! Can you believe that? Didn't want to tell them off but if some of you are close to the owner, can hint hint a bit to tell them about their fishes. I hate to see fish deaths!

Thanks. Any place I can buy this type of L-shaped rod? Also, I think this kind of MH quite different from the one used at Gan. Looks more like a lighting hood but suspended from the top. Any place to help me fix this thing?

extend it to the floor? wat for?

the rods can be purchase at those hardware store, who sell piping.. ask them to bend for u... for asthetic results.. i will come up with a more detailed drawing..

this concept can be used for a single pendant fixture.. jus need to get a rod which can support the weight.. if not, try a square pipe and weld an angle plate (additional support)

the design is great but my concern is that the back board of the cabinet may not be strong enough to support the total suspension weight....as it is usually plywood?

The MH light is the one bought from SoonHeng. It is not 200++, it is 400++ for a 2ft light set, it has a 150W MH and 2 2ft FL lights. It has build-in fans so the light set does not get heat up too much

Looking at the design, it should be strong enuf to support the lights. The lights shouldn't be dat heavy rite....... or can somebody check how heavy is you MH lights....
    Cheers!!
