    Hi,

Recently bought a green terror and its now in a bare 2ft tank. I bought it to prevent mosquito breeding in the tank and well, its quite an attractive fish.
This morning, i saw eggs on the floor of the tank !! now thinking of getting a mate for this female... so want to know more. here's some questions:

1: how to know their gender??
    2. what's the size of an adult? (my current fish is about 6cm)
    3. where is this fish from ?
4: what's their natural biotope like?

    Thanks!

    hi yampeck
to sex them for definite they have to be at least4-5 ins in length, then you can see the hump starting and it's finnage is also longer than the females,
ive had male terrors up to 10 inches SL (Standard length).

thay are south americans, peru and equador,
the decor for the tank can be gravel, large pebbles, pieces of bogwood and a few large pots, no plants as they like ripping the leaves to bits, and use a safety cover for your heater as they like shaking it about.

hope this does'nt deter you from keeping them. haha

btw forgot you don't use heaters, lucky people.

    hey, thanks for the info,

but any way to tell the gender by the colors other that the finnages? most of the fishes i saw at the shops are abt the same size at 6cm. Are they considered still young fish at 6cm?

    Thanks!

the fish you have seen bud, are just babies ,
if you see a group between 4-6 inches you'd have more of a chance sexing them, but i'm afraid you would still have to buy at least 6 pieces to make sure you have a pair.
