    Is there any way to prevent CRS from climbing over the IOS filter?

    Because they are able to survive out of the water for short periods, and they CAN climb the mesh.

    Don't just erect a mesh wall at the overflow. Cover the whole top of the overflow.

    Code:
    |                  |
    |~~~~~~~~~~~~~XXXXX|
    |             X|   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    +--------------+---+
    ~~~ = water surface
    XXX = mesh
    Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
    Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
    A woman, without her man, is nothing.
    A woman: without her, man is nothing.
    I've seen yamatos climb higher than that. I'm not sure what a CRS is capable of though.
    That 1 or 2 inches must not exceed the lip of the tank, else there's a chance the CRS will end up outside the tank.
    Hmmm... how about mesh like below? If you are using steel mesh, you can bend it. But you need to make sure the horizontal portion is high enough and long enough that they cannot climb it upside down. Alternatively, cover the horizontal portion with smooth plastic (cut from disposable food containers, poke small holes and secure with fishing line) that they cannot get a grip on.
    In my previous suggestion, the worry is that shrimps sitting on the top of the mesh can easily jump over the lip of the tank.
    Code:
    |           XXXX   |
    |              X   |
    |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~X   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    |              |   |
    Why would shrimps want to climb out of water? Trying to escape bad water?
