Parasite on tetra?

Hi, I saw something like white worm hanging out from the gill. Other fishes are doing fine. Do I need to isolate this fish? Will this infect other fishes in the tank? It has with me for the past 2 months. Thanks.

feed fish plenty of food for 2 days.
Isolate fish 3 hours after feeding on 2nd day
add methylene blue or other anti-parasite medication
NO FEEDING WHILE MEDICATING.
That way you won't have to do water changes.
the tetra should be able to go one week without eating

After one week, parasites should be dead, reintroduce into tank

eyebm, throwing it away does NOT make it suffer less. It makes YOU suffer less. I personally think that is not a right attitude to take... It like an ostritch sticking its head in the sand, pretending it did not see anything...

FYI, I did use the the treatment suggested by XnSdVd but the fish was dead on the 2nd day of the treatment . I guess if I noticed the parasite earlier, I should be able to save it.

Killing my pet before trying my best to save it is not my way of enjoying my hobby.

urk... now i feel responsible for your fish It was likely killed by the stress. Treatment only works if the fish is still in reasonably good health. Did you manage to get a look at the parasite?
