Ooooh, I love the emersed hairgrass it's very elegant. Selwyn Sng, great job! Did you also try growing emersed Hemianthus callitrichoides "cuba"? If not, you should try it.
Hi all, I've started this topic for 2 reasons, namely, to try posting pictures on the forum and to show case my humble collection. I must apologise for my amaturish photo-skill though...![]()
I believe the "white spiders" at the tip of a couple of hairgrasses are "flowers".
A mixture of Marsilea, Lilaeopsis (foreground) and Christmas moss (darker patch).
White spoon used as a backdrop to highlight the shape of Marsilea.
Do feel free to comment.![]()

As a matter of fact, yes, I'm currently growing emersed HC in my somewhat defunct 6' tank.
It is still "under construction" and the whole tank might not be ready until probably the 3rd quarter next year....

Good to hear from you again. Do you mean your 6 footer is now turned into emersed planting? Perhaps, this would save works of water change and (possibly) algae issue?
Why you expect the tank to take so long to get into shape?
Nice emmersed growth. I plan on trying to do HC and Dwarf hair grass this year... do you have a pump or a heater or anything to move the water around in the substate in the 6ft tank?

Yes Freddy, I’m growing emersed plants in it actually (to be precise, only HC is being grown currently). I’ll usually add enough water to the tank to get the area waterlogged (only 2 litres needed). Then, it’ll be left to dry, not totally dry, just…..”moist”.Originally Posted by fc
Yes, it is true that growing plants emersed spares me the hassle of my constant exhausting battles with algae, haha…Nevertheless, it’ll only be temporal. Once all the HC fill the gap, I’ll top the tank with water.
The picture shows the tank in its two and a half months state. To me, this is pretty slow, so that explains my estimate.
Thank you for the complement Andrew. Hmm…..this year? That’s like….soon right? Haha…Originally Posted by fish newb
We do not need a heater here in Singapore. But what we do need here instead is a chiller, haha...well…jokes aside, having a chiller here is optional actually.
Yes, I needed two pumps to ensure that there is complete water circulation in the tank. This is true for optimum CO2 distribution as well.
[quote="Hammy"]Alright, I probably won't need a chillerOriginally Posted by fc
This year now, meant this school year really but whatever! Thanks for the tip on the pumps, I wasn't too sure so I figured Why not ask!
Any updates?
