Rack for fishtank

I am working on a new project and need a sturdy rack for a 2ftx1ftx1ft tank. I was looking at Ikea's IVAR rack but worried about the weight...

Any recommendations of (nice looking) racks similar to IKEA's IVAR and also sturdy enough for my needs?

I believe it should be alright as long as it is not at the top level of the rack... In case it topples...

You will need to vanish the pine first so that water drips will not spoil the wood...

I calculated the weight of such a tank should be about 57L, hence 57kg in weight if filled with water. But this is not including the equipment and sand

Think will hit about 65kg in weight.

Looks more stable... And birch veneer is pretty strong... Given that my tank cabinets are using plywood...

The IVAR series from IKEA is not really suitable for fish tanks. The wood turns soft if not treated properly. Once that happens, it's a disaster waiting to happen. The total weight of tank + substrate + equipment + deco can be more than 65 kg.

Must it be wood? Otherwise, a simple wrought iron stand can be dress up quick well to suit your needs.

Just imagine whether the Ikea racks can hold the weight of an adult of 57 to 65Kg?

The thing is, I need the rack to look presentable as it'll be place beside a dislpay cabinet and iron stands doesn't look good...

Have you check out the cabinets at C328? They are not as expensive as you think. Around S$95 each. Black, simple and presentable.

I build 3 tier DIY rack using metal frame from metal shop, its end up more expensive than buy from LFS. I saw iron rack at LFS sell for $3x

In my opinion, not worth the hazel, unless you love DIY.

How much you pay for the metal frame per piece? I am going to make 1 myself too. is chaeper than a WI stand

This one looks good... I wonder if they are easy to assemble... I need a stand to place a fish tank in my office!

1 rod of metal frame 10ft is $8.5. You can ask the shop to cut it into your desired length. I bought WI (not really sure WI or normal I) for only $3x (2tier) the 3 tier DIY I made cost me about double.

Ikea stuff usually come with the tool to assembly it. It just an L key

I am looking for rack for six guppy tanks. I saw a 3-tier galvanised iron rack at Ikea selling at $40. Maximum loading is 65Kg per shelf. Tempted to buy but I thought a WI rack is stronger and more stable. There are also wooden rack at Ikea and typical loading is 50Kg per shelf.

Bloody hell, one LFS quoted me $85 for a WI 3tier 2x1.5.

In that case I misght as well make my own..

There's a reason why certain prices are being charged, usually to cover unseen overheads... And that is the reason why open direct price discussions are NOT encouraged in the forum.
