    hi all,

what is the survival rate for the eggs to hatch and to become fries when both parents are taken out when eggs are already spawn by female?

when to feed the fries baby brineshrimp (bbs)? when the fries are free swimmers?

    Hi Chris,
for my case is i leave both parents in the breeding tank. my orange flash Apistrogramma cacatuiodes seems to protect the cave until the fries are free swimming. as for feeding with bbs, i start feeding them to the parents since the are in breeding mood and when the fries are free swimming they are able to eat the bbs.

Not too sure the survival rate when both parents are taken out. hope others could have a better answer to help you. Good Day and Best of Luck in breeding your apistos!

    Regards,
    Jumali

thanks mali... i asked that question because my triple red A.cacatuiodes have already spawn. but on the forth day, my bro take out the cave out of curosity. then i immediately take the parents out... so now i am looking after the fries myself. up till now(fifth day), saw three fries dead. wating for them to be free swimmers then feed bbs. guess some bros also encounter the same thing. they will take out the parents after the eggs hatched...

If the male apistogramma is eating the fries, take him out. I always left the female fish to take care of her brood. I can't answer your question of human caring of the apisto fries. So far I'm only successful with the breeding of blue rams. My experience was that after the parents were taken out, the survival rate of ram fries became very low, even without any predator around.
