i find saes to be a pain in the ***
they're nippy, get very very big, and tend to leave algae alone once they get a taste of bloodworm
kiv this if you're thinking of getting them

it's easier to lower the water level if you want to plant
when i setup my new tank i did it with the water at 50%
but nowadays when i do maintenance and replant i don't bother
you get used to it []

I saw some saes, otos and yamatoes at Keong Seong the other day. Saes tends to grow pretty big like mine. Genuine SAEs has a black stripe that extends all the way to the tail end. Fake ones has the stripe stop just before the tail.
    ----------------
the black stripe must also not have a gold stripe above it, and the fins should be colourless. Once you see a real one you'd be able to tell. The head of the real SAE and the fake SAE, flying foxes etc are different.

Anyway my SAE never seem to grow big before they conk out, probably run out of algae to eat. I feed little by little and they usually don't get to eat fish food.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Read this article to recognise SAE from the rest.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
