Or you can try my method
Put some veggie like spinach in and take it out when the snails cover them. I used to have alot of snails crawling around, after i did this for like 2 to 3 times i managed to get rid of most of it The leaves will be dotted with snails.

    Hi,

I think before you rush out to get a puffer, try to remove them manually using the method suggested by Andy (NDC).

Getting a puffer would be more effective, but once the snails are gone, you will have to feed it other food, puffers prefers live food rather than flakes/pellets. They are also known to nip the fins of other fishes. So it's kind of a long term problem disguised as a solution to your snails problem.

You can effectively limit the population size of the snails by ensuring that you do not overfeed your other livestock.

Saw this snail trap, from sera, costing abt 20+.

Another method, see 1, kill 1 for a week and see how. I tried it, snails population really reduce a lot.

So now you have to feed the puffer additionally and your snail problem isn't solved. Puffers don't normally take flakes or dry food which is precisely why I don't recommend puffers as the solution for snails.

They will take live/frozen food, so yes, bloodworm will do.

Snails hiding in the sand? Think your snails might be trumpet snails....a yoyo loach might help. It helps in the sand too

    BLESSED CHRISTMAS!!!

In the case of MTS (Malaysian Trumpet Snail)... the Puffer (My guess is its a Dwarf Puffer) will not be able to crush the hard conical shells.

Do not fret about the puffer though, you can always take it out, and set up a nano tank JUST for it. These little guys have PERSONALITY!!! More than just another "worker" fish, puffers are intelligent and responses to you (my female one actually spits water at me to get my attention...)

As for the snail problem, use the method in post #3. MTS only surface at night so you have to take the following steps.

    1.) Wait till night time.
2.) Throw veggie into tank and switch off the lights.
    3.) Wait for 1-2 hours.
4.) Fish the veggie out immediately.

(A good idea will be to tie a string to the veggie)

    Cheers Bro!!
