Is this Hemianthus callitrichoides 'cuba' ?

Bought this from my lfs, just wanted to confirm
planning to grow this in a 10g cube with 18x2w pl and pressurized co2 before shifting it to my main tank.

Took you quite a bit of time to seperate them into strands like that

I'm not sure, I've tried them before and they died on me. You might have better luck with them.

2 months should be about right, depending on your set-up(amount of lights, CO2, etc...).

That's very patient of you. I would have just bought a patch of 14 X 14 inches and just plonk it in.

In any case, do keep us posted of your development. I had some problem with this plant creeping upwards to reach for light. Other than that, I love the delicate appearance of this species.

^^hehehe, getting a 14x14inch patch would be great, but the thing is that its quite expensive here (india), so i'd rather wait for it to grow out :P
am taking pics of the tank every alternate day, just to keep a record of the progress, will definitely update this thread when i start getting significant growth. right now its pearling continously and i can see very small cute new leaves appearing
when should i start dosing ferts? 2 weeks?

Anyway, we do see them here in carpets. I was just at Teo's farm a few days ago and was almost tempted to use this as a foreground plant. But the thought of frequent maintenance quickly squash that thought.

btw just calculated, the rate @ which i bought this much cuba, i would need to spend 600 sing dollars for a 14x14 patch
@benny, what do you mean by frequent maintenance? does this plant req. frequent pruning n stuff?
btw which plant would you choose as a foreground plant for a 35g 2ft tank with high lighting and co2? glosso or cuba or any other?

S$600!!!! You can probably have a 5 m X 5 m carpet for that price!!!

Well, if you have high light, then the HC might take a longer time to grow upwards. Personally, I would prefer something that has a height profile within 2 inches. So I would have a tendency to prefer Glossostigma elatinoides or Japanese hairgrass.

You can try Elatine triandra too, I've never tried it but I've a feeling it's easier to take care of compared to glosso.

Hairgrass is great since it looks messy and trimming it messily won't have much of an effect after it grows in.
