For a made in China cannister filter, the Dolphine C-1000 is not bad.

A 2nd hand Eheim also not bad. And the resale value is good for its quality.
Can try 2215,2224,2226,2260 and above for your tank size.

Oops. My typo. I meant to say 2026 (not 2260). 2028 also can. I just follow Eheim's recommendation of filter for a particular tank size. So those I listed earlier are in the recommended range for a 4ft tank (250L).

hmm... I think the recommendations he was hoping for should be something more economical. Perhaps below S$100.

    Cheers,

Hmm.....then maybe brands like dolphin or even resun would have bigger filters are a lower cost but not very reliable, especially for a huge tank!

Can try ATMAN CF-1000 , I think cost around $80 ++ with full acessories.(without biomedia)

I am using ATMAN CF-800 now for my tank, performance not bad, quiet pump compare to other china brand.

U can get it at most of the LFS. Got mine at NA few weeks back.

IMHO, it is also wise to consider the ongoing expenses, apart from one time investment since the filter will be on 24x7. A more power efficient filter will save you a lot & able to cover for the additional cost you paid for it in as short as 12 months time. I find that the electrical usage calculator in this forum is very helpful.

Hi, low cost filter may not be a wise chice as the plastic sometime is very thin and prompt to broke very easily.

i use eheim 2228, 2217, 2215 and they have no problem at all after a few year of usage, There are low price eheim internal filter which you can consider.
