I saw some small snails with transparent shell in my 2ft tank. The shell looks like pyramid, because of this, it is hard to pick up/manually clean . How to get rid of this? Read some recomendation in other threat but do not want to introduce puffer fish at this point. Does veggie method work on these snails? Do I need to boil the veggie first?

I'm sure they will help, but not sure what I should do with it once all the snails are gone

dun think your snaills population will completely disappear especially if yours is a densely planted tank...

btw mine feed on worm now but it still continue to forage for snails

yeah my tank is quite dense, maybe I should buy 1 dwarf puffer fish. Do you feed it with it life worm or frozen worm (I assume its blood worm)?

Heh, I introduced a puffer into my tank for snail control. The puffer did its job, however ended up nipping on my other fishes once the snails ran out. It took me a good 2+ months to finally catch the puffer. I realised snails like MTS & ramshorn hardly create "holes" to the leaves but instead help by digesting dead vegetation and also "aerate" the substrate.

Personally, I'd rather have harmless snails than a harmful puffer.

these are known as malaysian trumpet snail and they are the hardest to remove as they breed very quickly and they even dwell below the sand.. since your tank is already infested with it, there are only 3 solutions available:

    1) manually removing them or by setting trap..
    2) puffer fish
    3) rescape

any snail is still fine but this type of snail is known to over populate your tank in a couple of months that has resulted in many failed projects..

well, the good news is - your tank is going to be free of algae..

Squash them. Your fish will like them.Do it while they are small. The big ones have very hard shells.

One more fish you can consider is the clown loach. they will clear the snails and shrimps and may create a bit of havoc to your plants if underfed..

overall, if well balanced, it keeps your tank clear of snails and cleanup your tank bottom.. it is bright in color that makes a nice looking fish.. they do grow quite big, but it takes quite a while..

Hi brother have you tried the khuli loach. Its super effective because it can even dig a little.
Also in my own experience the puffers don't work against MTS. When a puffer is introduced the MTS will burrow down below the substrate. Once the puffer is removed they'll appear again.

I m not sure with others, but seem like my tank is ok with snails. In my planted tank, I put in trumpet snail & mud snail (trap door snail) to put in additional deco to my planted tank... well, its was OK. All under control.

If I m not mistaken, if your temperature is below 26'c, the snail will not breed so fast, instead could die. I m snail lover, got pleanty of snail. So do experience with it to see which is best and worst for snail.

you can limit your snail population by reducing the amount of food fed to your fish. That would also limit the snails' food source and their population. I find that my snail population greatly decreases when I reduce feeding. There are still some snails around the tank though.
