    Hi all,
I was thinking of purchasing a nano cube tank from JBJ. Was wondering if anyone here can share with me the cons of that tank? Would it have any problems in the long run like heating problems etc?
Many tanks for your advice and input!

It depends on what you are going to use the tank for.

For planted tanks, the lighting may restrict the type of plants you have. The lumens may be inadequate and the temperature may be too high. Mounting fans may be an issued due to the tank design.

If you are using these type of tanks in air conditioned office, just keeping moss on drift wood and shrimps, then it should be fine.

Perhaps you can share what you have in mind for this tank and we can explore it's strength and weakness in more detail.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Hi,
I'm thinking of a planted tank. As to what plants, i'm still in the process of researching the different types... I currently own a 1 ft cube tank... the main reason I'm looking towards these self contained tanks is cos my current tank has no cover, which allows debris to collect on the water surface... evaporation is also another factor. I read on the JBJ website that their current models have fans installed... so was wondering if that really helps.

Was comtemplating on getting the 24G Nano cube for planted also but instead used the money to get a custom built 27G bracless tank with stand and a 4 tube T5 HO Solite lamp.

    IMO the Nano
-would have limited light (Although you can look at some of the customizations offered by Nanocustom.com)
    - Cooling must be an issue (esp in SGP) since its covered, unless you operate with chilller or air-con room.
    - Heard that Over flow filter no so suitable for planted tanks as it agitates water and depletes CO2 from the water.
+ On the plus side, it just looks great.
    + Everything built in.
