Hi everyone ,
I'm going to try to keeping Apistogramma cacatuoides with discus.
Is it possible or are they are too aggressive for community tank (200 L)

Hi Vera,
Welcome to AQ! All the way from Ukraine too! I've split out your question into a new thread for further discussion.
A few questions to help you get better answers.
1. Will the 200L community tank be planted?
2. Does it have a lot of hiding spaces?
3. How many discus will you have in that tank?
4. How big are the discus?
5. Are there other fishes?
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Thanks benny (You are ukrainian or did I read it wrong?)
The tank is heavily planted,2 large driftwood
I have 5 X discus (3-4"), 2 X torpedo barbs, 2 X neons tetra, shoal of pencil fish, 2 X corydoras, 3 X ansictrus, and a pair of Rams.

Oops! I was just remarking that you are all the way from Ukraine. I'm 100% Singaporean. Born, bred and working here.
I think if your tank's heavily planted, then there should be no issues. The Rams might give the Apistogramma cacatuoides some trouble if they are also spawning. Otherwise, your community tank is pretty ok.
Do show show us some pictures when you have the chance.

No problem!
Do you think their breeding behaviour less agressive than Rams? if so, the tankmates wouldn't mind to have new residents?

I'm going to update pictures as soon as possible.
Is it easy to get Apistos in Singapore? Over here (I stay in malta for now), I can get them only by order from Germany, and that takes about 1 month.![]()

Ap. Cacatuoides are definitely more agressive than rams during spawning period.
Some of the tankmates might pose a threat to the survival of the eggs and fries during spawning....
Corydoras might go for the eggs and tetras might scoop up the fries....but if you are only keeping for viewing purpose, its fine...![]()

Over here, it's possible to get Apistogramma spp. just by going to the shop to buy it. However, the selection offered is quite basic during the last year or so. I think there are some specialised shops like Biotope Aquarium at Bukit Merah that stocks some rare species.
If you can order directly from Germany, chances are that you can also get a lot of other different species, besides Apistogramm cacatuoides. You may want to enquire with your local fish shop.
Looking forward to your pictures!

Hi guys,
Thank you for your replies.
I'm going to scroll through the list and see. Has anyone kept panda apisto (Apistogramma nijsseni)? Interesting species
