Bro, which shop and where? wouldn't mind having a look just to know what they are selling. Also, what is the asking price?

I believe most Altum Angelfishes sold locally are wild caught. Most literature just list their natural habitat to be Rio Orinoco, but records seems to indicate that this fish has been collected from the upper Rio Negro basin in Brazil; the Rio Negro drainage in Venezuela; Laja Vendita in Venezuela and many parts of the Rio Orinoco and its tributaries from Colombia to Venezuela. Unlike dwarf cichlids, which may have color variations when collected from different location, such variations in altum angels does not seem common.
Anyway, I would assume that caring for Brazilian altum angelfishes would be the pretty much the same as their Columbian/Venezuelian cousins. They need a deep tank to grow to their full glory and enough space as they can be horribly territorial.
As for diet, they can be fussy and sometimes take ages to wean off live food. Obviously dither fishes must be large enough otherwise they'll end up as angelfish snack.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,

I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
When buying Altums or any other cichlids, most important is to check their tummy. Any signs of concaving tummies means they have not been eating well and chances are, they wouldn't survive in your tank.
Broken fins, rotting fins are still curable. Emanciation, nope... Yet to succeed.
I guess broken fin are part of the process during the shipping transportation. But altum angel, they need very low PH when newly brought and once they are use to the tank water perimeter, they are very wild in the tank.
I had unsucess with last season altum. they dies after few day on few difference occasion after i purchased. That maybe why Gan does not bring much so that not much being losses.
If you should want to invest on the altums, best to quarantine them for a period of 2 weeks or so. Since they are directly from the wild, I'm pretty sure they'll contain parasites.
