What do new born shrimps look like?

Hi,

On my tank wall i have a lot of tiny dots around 1 mm moving that look like brine shrimp but its is white..It cannot be mosquito larvae as the are worm like and my water is aerated.Are those new born shrimps?If not i may have to scoop them out.

New born shrimp will look the same as the shrimp...

Those on the glass tank is freshwater fleas or insect due to overfeed. If you have fishes in the tank, there will be disappear in no time.

Could be baby shrimps from your Malayan Shrimps. Do you have them in your tank?

I agree with hskier, they are most likely copepods, they are harmless. They multiply when there is overfeeding. The way to get rid of them is to feed less.

You can tell if they are baby shrimp because they are larger, at least 2mm, and will look like tiny adults. This applies for higher order shrimp and not shrimp which have larvae stages.

yeah dont think they are shrimplets. Though at a scale of 1mm, shrimplets will look like super scale down of adults.

I have a small Nano tank. Only hair grass and drift wood with ADA soil.
Baby shrimp were born there. The two adults were put in when they had eggs. First appeared as small 1 mm white dots moving on the drift wood. Later grew and I could sell them as clear shrimp, at about 2mm. Continued to grow. Now about 5mm. They are and were shrimp.
Not from overfeeding as they have never been fed. The tank is 6 month old and I have only added food twice in the tank (a pinch of tetra baby fish food), Currently there are about 50 babies and 2 adults in the tank.
I would say based on this, they are baby shrimp raeburter.

Most shrimps will look like miniature versions of the adults, with the exception of a few that go through a larval stage (these require brackish water). Here's a few pics of some baby shrimps.

Even crayfish will look like miniature versions of the adults. Here's the dwarf cajun crayfish, C. shulfertii. This one is about 2mm across with a huge crop.

my shrimplets are normally on my tank wall.....so it's very obvious that those are shrimps

That was Just what I was going to say. They are always along the wall or on the plain drift wood. Because they are against the back wall it is hard to get a picture or really look at them with my Nikon S5. But after spending 20 minutes staring they do look like small shrimp, but they are just very very small. At first look they just look like small white dots, but them move around, sometimes "swim" from one place to another.

Hi raeburter, I have successfully breed Malayan, Cherry, Tiger & CRS/Diamond shrimps. The shape of new born baby shrimplets looks exactly like their parent except many times smaller.
