I doubt you can find this in our LFS easily. I think this is a really rare fish, if seen at all. Biotope had a shipment of them last year but they didn't survive. And that is the only time I have heard of a Garra rufa shipment.

Thought this "doctor fish" is being sold in LFS recently? Bought 2 from NA. Saw them in biotope as well.

Ah, so this is found recently. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, NA and Biotope aren't exactly the places I visit regularly and considering I haven't seen this fish during my lifetime in AQ, I still consider this a rare fish in our LFS, or at least to me.

Care to post some nice pictures of G. rufa and how you are keeping them, requirements etc (in Freshwater Fauna section), so that more people are aware of this fish? Thanks.

Care to provide some indicative prices? Just a rough figure will do. Need to consider how many to get.

    Yup... G.flavatra...
Alot of shops carrying them recently... Seems like a result of the influx of Myanmarise fishes...

That is Garra flavatra. As mentioned, never seen G. rufa before in my life.

Checked that it's not on the IUCN Red List. Why is it controlled ah?

actually, if you really want to see the real thing, it can be found in Sentosa's newest attraction. It'll be nice if the LFS do sell them
