    Byran,

Thanks for the invitation. Who says your tank is ugly. It's Cool man!!

Anyway, just to update everybody onboard, I'll be starting my project after CNY, but the pocurement process will start after 10th Feb 07. Also the tank size will be changed to 64" x 1.5ft x 2 ft.

Anyone has got ideas as where can i get nice and cheap DW?

I know Colourful Aquarium(next to NA) have nice and big ones at times. any where else?

Thanks for the compliment neighbour . I'll probably stick with this set up until end of this year and redo the tank, then maybe I'll post a pic.

This sounds like a trip to Teo's plant farm for you. I wouldn't mind pimping a ride too hehe. At least I'd someone to talk fish with. Anyway, for the big driftwood issue. I noticed recently that the fish shops (C328 and Polyart) are now selling rather big pieces with ferns attached at a fairly good price.

Altum lover 76 This is my suggestion for the piping design. there is an additional piece of glass added to the filter chamber to raise inlet water level to prevent splashing.

The design is the reverse of a normal IOS design.

This design is similar to the design that I see at Fuwo some time back.

The hole that is drilled which is usually use as outlet will be use as inlet this time round.

water from the inlet will flow into the hole into the first filter chamber. A piece of glass is added to raise the water level of the first chamer, so that water flowing into the chamber through the pipe will not splash (minimise co2 loss), it will just flow in gradually.

Then the water will flow into the next 2 filter compartments before a pump is used to pump the water out to the outlet.

The whole cycle will continue with min water splashing and surface disturbance.

    Hi C]ircus,

In fact, this design was inspired by Fuwo. Just a question here.

Can you advise the rating for the pump if my intended aquaria is 4 to 5 ft?

    Cheers!!

    Talking

Yeah. This design is what I see in Fuwo some time back, if I didn't remember how it works wrongly.

Talking Overflow system for planted tanks!!?(lastest development)

To all who has been faithfully advicing me on my quest for a planted tank at home, pls allow me to bring all of you to date.

Procurement of tank 90% through. Looking at one of the tanks in this forum. A 4ft x 2ft x 2ft with sump and cabinet going for $xxx.

Be going down to view the tank either tomorrow or wednesday.

    Byran, wanna come along?

Was thinking of this crazy idea.

the diagrams shows a tank with one ios on both side. The left side serves the same purpose as the normal ios tank wherelse the right side will serves as a sump for the filtered water where all the dosing and co2 fertilization will be done. I know it sounds crazy but can anyone comment on the feasibility of this crazy idea of mine?

Do you guys mind commenting? thanks

    Altum_Lover76,

Where is the leftside ios's water going to? I presume is to a sump tank below?

Where is the right side ios water flowing to? I presume is going back to the tank?

sorry for the confusion here. the water on the left side of the ios will be pump to the right using a pump. The water on the right will then flow out from the outlet on the right(the 10" double black line).

If its for extra filtration I can understand. But just for dosing and CO2 diffusion? I'd rather save the space for plants and fish. Besides, you can already do all that in the pump compartment.

I think you are getting very confuse here. What Bryan says is correct what have a water storage area (left side ios) and then a sump tank filter system on the right?

Then what must you pump water to the right?
