Swish, please avoid using SMS shortforms to post. It makes reading very difficult...

What substrate are you using for the tank? Filtration? Plants? How big is your tank and what is the tank population? Give us more information.
    Read me! http://justikanz.blogspot.com/

    I don't know but I don't think high kH=alkaline.

Invest in a Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate Test Kit.
Ammonia and Nitrite must be ZERO.

I think those shrimps can't stand too high kH...
My start dropping dead when kH reached 4....best maintain at 2-3 max.

    Hi Swish,
Firstly, those fishes don't really go hand in hand with your shrimps. Did you plant any plants lately or introduced any without proper cleansing? Or disturb the substrate quite bad? Any of this could have cost your shrimps to die or it could be your water perimeters. My take, shrimies are best left to their own. I keep mine with micro rasboras, so far so good since the fish can't get bigger than the shrimps.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

I was reading this & thought I could input some infomation I have...

My tank is also placed in my room with the aircon at night only when I go to bed...

But do you know the temperature in the day when you leave the house?

I checked one time when I was still cycling my tank & the temp was around 30 degrees!!! With a temperature swing of 30 down to 23-24 degrees everyday your crs might not be able to take it...

The other parameters were highlighted by the other members that need to take note of...

ie. Invest in a Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate Test Kit.

Ammonia and Nitrite must be ZERO.

Normally our waters GH & KH are fine... From what I read from the other forums crs breeders / keepers are concerned about the other parameters... They are only concerned about PH & Temperature...

So you might like to check your Temperature as I see that might be a reason why your crs are dying...

Oh yes... A big temperature fluctuation during a day is bad... I think that is the main reason why I can never keep CRS in my room tanks too...

I am considering keeping the aircon on 24 hours everyday...

Buying a Chiller would be a cheaper option that is if you are not the one paying the electricity bills... Hahaha...

If your parents are pciking this up I seriously doubt they would like this idea one bit...

I think I prefer an air conditioned room than a noisy chiller that will emit hot air into the room...

And also the air conditioning will help bring down the room's humidity...

Anyway, we are going off track liao...
