Wow!! Eugene, you're keeping them with your Apistogramma cacatuoides? Any sparks between the 2?
I always hear that rams eggs are often eaten or doesn't hatch if left with the parents.....mostly hatched artifically??

No problem with my apisto. They usually ignore each other in my 3 footer.

Fries was eaten by whom? What are your water parameters? I've always have eggs in the past, but they were either gone or did not hatch.....

I used ADA soil & "pot" for my tank .
I think for ram, water parameter is not so important as for dwaft cichid such as apisto

Rams are not cave spawners. They will lay eggs on any flat surface. I used to breed rams and they normally lay eggs on the substrate.

Wow!! Thats very fast....today is day 2 wince they laid it yesterday...I can see 2 different color eggs, yellow and transparent...I believe its fertilised and non-fertilised eggs...so far all the eggs are still intact, no signs of eggs being eaten up like my previous pairs of rams....

good luck to you,it took about 5 days for the free swiming stage-very fascinating to watch parents picking up ones who fell out from the 'nest'

Does anyone know how big will grow rams of the large breed please.
