Yes. I have one setup where the snail are in the filter instead of the tank. Not a problem for the filter. Still working fine.
Cheers,
Hi,
I am lazy to clean my canister filter for about more than 8 mth. This evening i decided to do a cleaning (3 more weeks to CNY).
My tank of 4 ft was free from snail and i can remember the last time this incurred was about s6 mth ago and it was under control.
Of course, after open the top cover of my canister filter which were very dirty. I am very surpriseto find snail resting on the cotton wool top from the 1 tray to 3 trays.
Has anyone had encounter it before?![]()

All the time...
Not a problem actually...
Got shrimps sometimes too...
My filter had shrimps and even shirmplets... and lots of them (dead & alive).

Actually, having live shrimps and snails in the filter is a good thing in my opinion. They help to break down (i.e. eat and poop) the larger debris faster. I won't purposely put them in though.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
I am actually more worry that it will laid eggs and flow out to the tank. duno it would happen cause eggs or snails can flow thru the out flow tube.
