Going to set up another 2ft planted tank soon, would like to know where can I get reliable and reasonably priced timer plug so that I dun have to bother switching on the light and fan.

    Thanks.

Ehh... for the non-digital ones, get TheBen brand. Smaller them most and quite well made. Nature has it. Dunno where else.

There is this digital timer by Soundtech. White casing with blue buttons. Can get for around $20-$22 from Kelantan Lane. Costs $29.90 if you buy from those hardware shops in shopping centres. But I dunno the name of the shop. Will post the name of the shop when I am there again.

    Juggler,

Will find out the name of the shop selling the TheBen timer at $14. But need to bargain one. Sometimes cannot get at that price. Depends on the shopkeeper's mood.

    - Plug a power strip or multi-adaptor to the timer.
    - Plug in fans, lights, solenoid (if you use one) to the power strip or multi-adaptor.
    - Set timer time and on/off settings.
    - Plug timer into power socket.

It's quite self-explanatory on the product packaging.

simon, in what way does the digital timer less problematic than the analogue?

Analogue time will break down more often?

the analog ones workings with moving parts, therefore more prone to wear and tear... I changed 3 analog ones b4 i decided to get a digital timer, now.. I got no more problems with faulty dialer.. I now only get digital timer, though more expensive, but its defintely more worth it.. plus it looks better in every way

Simon: I only have a weekly version digital timer. Which allows me to set only 2 on/off programs a day. Is the daily version able to set more on/off programs a day -- like we can set multiple on/off settings at 15-min intervals on the analog version?

I agree with simon about analog timers for a lot of the brands out there. They look very crude and the parts don't fit properly. However, I find TheBen ones quite well constructed. I've opened one before and the parts inside are well designed.

    Dear Simon,

Can you post a picture of the digital timer so that we know what to look for when we go to the hardware shop. If not, how about the brand or country of manufacture. Thanks!
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
