Simon, how long did you TheBens last? I've been using mine about a year plus now. Another set in my old office must have lasted about 2 or 3 years already, continuous usage.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.

    dear fellows

Just got a SoundTech Digital Timer(the 1 with blue buttons)

Plugged it into the socket & go the necessary programming for auto ON/OFF & adjust the clock timing.

Upon completion, i unplugged(thus no power supply now) The clock timing slowing dimmed & disappeared from the LCD screen within seconds. Also realised tt all the programmed timing had been erased too.

Why is this so? This timer come with a built-in backup battery.

    pls help

    adrian

Kinda illogical for a device with backup batteries to forget settings. It might turn off the LCD to save power, but should not forget settings. The battery could be flat.

    illogical right.

Battery flat - not possible cos it came with a tag labelled for user to remove it b4 using(that tag is sandwiched between the batter contact pt so tt battery will not be activated & get drains out b4 usage/purchase.

It runs on a Alkaline button cell battery.

    simon,vinz

i just got TheBen analog timer..set it & plugged in along wif an extension just for the lights. My question-although its has functions of going on & off a few times a day- i just need it to do one on & off a day....indefinitely.
so vinz, will it just do that everyday(set to on@8am off @2100hrs)?just tested by going thru the dial wif lights..seems ok.do i have to touch it or reset it everyday?
i'm leaving for KL tomorrow & won't be back till sat & sun then reservist for 2 wks ..so i got not much time to watch it.

doesn't matter if product doesn't last long- later i will upgrade,i just need it for the next few mths.

No need to touch it or reset everyday. Once its set and the power supply is on, it'll keep going.

Only fore-seeable problem is a blackout, which will stop the timer. When the power comes on again, the timer will resume with your settings but delayed by the amount of time the blackout lasted.
