    This is a 4ft x 2ft (H) x 1.5ft(w) tank.

Due to the height of the light source, the background plants are rather weak.

I am wondering whether I should leave the background bare or blanket it with a curtain of cyperus helferi?

    Hope you like this one.

Nice! I think a curtain of Cyperus helferi will certainly enhance it further.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Cheers,
Point noted. Cyperus Helferi is easier to maintain and will complete the layout faster for some serious photo shoots

On the other hand, another smiliar looking plant is Vallisneria nana and I am tempted to try this plant. Anyone has good experience in vallisneria nana?

Vallis nana, grows very long... I rid of it in my tanks because it's quite a bba magnet and rather messy as it dominates the bg. The good thing is it gives the tank 'flow'.

zenscape, there are another two plants which you can consider. Used pretty often in ADA scapes. Echinodorus latifolius and E.angustifolius. Leave shapes are similar. But have different growth heights and size of the leaves are slightly different too.

Stan, I also noticed the tendency of BBA growing on the Vallisneria nana, especially when they hit the surface. Never understood the rationale.

Thanks for the recommendation vincent. But I had ordered Vallisneria nana from Midori last night

My Cyperus Helferi also has BBA at the water surface. Strange..
