Well fishes and plants make people happy, which is the elderly, and changing water and scraping off algae makes people unhappy, which is us, so I guess this idea is workable when we are willing to be unhappy so that others can be happy.

Hi.
I was going through the steps of setting up my viviarium when i was at the RC senior citizen corner, collecting some recycled stuffs for the tank when suddenly an idea dawned upon me...![]()
Pardon me but i was thinking whether would there be anyone who would be keen to use the art of aquascaping to reach out to the less priviliged groups in our midst.
Just a idea which i thought i post on AQ and ask for feedbacks.
Please share your truest opinoin and hopefully we can do something for this group of folks.
Cheers!!

I will be starting this soon. Currently, the RC has got about 7 tanks. Occupants include a 2 ft alligator gar, 3 -4 arrowanas, 7 discus, 2 angel(my donation) and plenty of tetras which was caught at the river below my flat.
Cheers!!
Any one interested to join in??![]()

Confirm the fish not rasaboras. They look like rummy nose though...
There is noe tank with about 200++. They use it to feed the alligator gar and the arrowanas.
Cheers!!

Possible to capture a shot of these tetras? Heh, quite an expensive meal if it is indeed rummy nose.
visit my photo albums @ flickr!

Please post a picture of them. I have not heard of any feral tetra populations in Singapore so far.

High chance those are rasboras.

It might even be just livebearer fries.

Hi Dear all,
Just did a check. Those fish are not rasaboras or live bearers as valice and wackytpt suggest. They are actually indian glass fish.. I will post the pics later. Cheers!!

Hi to all,
Just came back from the RC to shoot some pics. Here they come.

Hmm... So the glass fishes were caught in the river. What about those tetra-like (thought I saw the adipose fins) fishes? These were not caught as well, are they?

Yes. They are. Infact, the fishes were there ever since the moonson season.. Everyday, i do see people casting in their nets and haul up plenty of those pretty fishes. Those are the thai and bangadesh workers who works nearby. I think i ever saw them eating on the spot raw...![]()
I can bring you there and see if you are free.![]()
Cheers!!

Ewww! sashimi picnic! That's the Sungei Kadut we're talking about here. I've seen shoals of Koi in there too. On a sadder note, somebody chucked a baby in there last year.

Ya loh..![]()
By the way, Byran, did you realise that the spot where they chuck the baby is just directly behind our clusters of flat?
Was at home that day when all the ploice and media people swarmed around the spot...
The river also has got a couple of arrowanas.
Cheers!!![]()
