Rams isn't difficult to keep =) and so does Rams eat snails too.=)
Whalaueh! suddenly my planted tank lots of snails man! []
I've read that a puffer is the way to go to get rid of these suckers, but I'm afraid that my shrimps will get eaten as well.
Anyone recommend other types of fish that will eat snails besides puffers and clown loaches?. Thinking of a Ram or Apisto, actually which one's better? I heard Rams are hard to keep
Currently, I've got 5 Otos and 5 Panda Corys and about 40 shrimps.

One small puffer will do the job
Eggz, I recommend the one-finger-poke method. after you crush the snail you can drop it in the water for the fishes to feast on. my pencils and harlequin loves crushed snails [:]

Personally, I leave the snails alone. They eat dead plant matter, helping in returning the nutrients to the tank ecology. I don't find them that ugly either.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
heheh..tis sounds weird..u wana spare me some of ur snails.. need jus a few.
I really discourage puffers. They are fin nippers. They are choosy about food. Most of them take only live food or at most frozen food... will ignore flakes/pellets or FD food.
Rams are good. They did a fantastic job keeping my snail population in check. At one time I was having like 5 to 10 baby snails per week. Now the baby snails are rarely seen leaving only the big snails.

Snails flourish when there's extra fish food. Definitely there's bound to be bits of food here and there.----------------

Another method of keeping their population down is to introduce bottom feeders, such as shrimps. Even those feeder shrimps will do.
But snails are good helpers too. They help cleaned some hard to reach algae in the tank like those glass areas where the plants grew too near. Snails also eat up dead and dying plant matter and this in turn becomes nutrients for the plants again.
So, snails are not that bad...

Juggler's tanks
Well, but with lots of gel-like snails eggs sticking all over your tank can be quite unsightly!

Thanks for all the tips guy, think I'll use a combination of the one-finger poke + suck some out when changing water + fish out those eating dead leaves with net + leave the rest alone []

oh but watch out, my apple snails like to wander out of the tank and onto the floor, a few times almost crushed them with my one-toe-poke [] []----------------

Yes, I keep three of them; the small one (Malabar). They do not eat shrimps. However, they only feed on frozen food for my case. They do not feed on dry food. I have witness these guys feed on snails. Trust me they are professionals.----------------
