Who's dude? Anyone I know? If not, it sounds rude.

Anyway, options are limited by the letter of the law. Best to approach Azmi and see if there are alternatives. I saw a pair of wild betta in one of the set up and it's quite cool. Alternatively, white's tree frog might be an option.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Yes, we are kind of restricted by law on what fauna to use in smallish vivariums... But for vivariums with a sizable water volume, bettas, small loaches and boraras would be a good addition. Snails and small shrimps are also interesting additions. I have vivariums and terrariums with no fauna in them...

    I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii

Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...

But for the water in vivariums, got to really make sure that the peat using the substrates (if any) doesn't leak into the water body. Else you can get a very acidic water. And will make aquatic critter selection a big headache.
