You are in the correct forum. However, I would refrain from calling them lobsters as lobsters are saltwater crustaceans while these are freshwater creatures. They are more appropriately called crayfish, crawfish or crawdad.

Red and blue ones are the most commonly found, which is why you see them quite often. I am also pretty certain there are more species that you can find in the LFS from time to time, but as I am not personally into crayfish, I will leave to others to confirm this.

You may also wish to do a search (top right hand corner) as there were some previous discussions on crayfish which may be useful.

    Happy crayfish keeping!

Crayfishes can be quite destructive in planted tanks. Perhaps that's why the folks here don't really keep them. Also, they are predatory and can hunt smaller fishes sometimes, despite they deceivingly slow movement.

I know this chap with the nick lobsterman and he used to have loads of them. He hangs out at arofanatics.com. Perhaps you can look him up.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
