I would think the flowrate might be lesser than 2400lt/hr, maybe even 1800lt/hr. My worry is would the o-ring hold back the extra pressure? Since you have 2 filter, you could use 1 of them solely for the surface skimmer.
I have upgraded to 5x2x2... previously using a 2215 and 2026 for my 4x2x2...
I suspect the flow rate is not high enough to circulate the water. I am now thinking of using a 1260 (2400ltr/hrs) on the 2026 (950ltr/hrs) - not using 1250 as no significant increase in flowrate only (1200ltr/hrs).
Maybe filter will clogged up and choke faster, the piping and filter design not built to handle the flowrate rate, thus cannot fully utilised the 1260 full capability... Any other adverse effects?

Why not use the 1260 standalone in the water to help circulation?
for circulation I think I would use a Seio 620... lower power consumption.
1260 - for pure circulation like abit waste leh! high power consumption and without filtration!
limsteel,
You can use the 1260 to run an external CO2 reactor. That's what I am doing for my 5 x 2 x 2 as well.
What I have is the following.
Sponge filter > Inlet > external CO2 reactor > 1260 > Outlet.
For filtration I am using 2 x 2028s and its more than sufficient, I feel.![]()

3x1.5x1.5 tank.
running well without leakage
surface skimmer (inlet) > 1260 > 2028 > external reactor > chiller > outlet
2028 unplug to save electric bill
I'm facing almost the same problem. I'm running my 3 x 2 x 2 plant tank with the following connections :
Inlet > Rena XP3 > Resun CL650 > external CO2 reactor > outlet
Recently found that my outlet flow rate has drop drastically, so decided to get a pump to help (maybe a Eheim 1250/1260) but don't know how to connect up. Can someone please advise ?
I intend to fix it up this way :
Inlet > Rena XP3 > Eheim 1260 > Resun CL650 > external CO2 reactor > outlet
Can ?

Hi jowy_ham,
You can have that setup you want, however, personally I would split up the 1260 to independently pump through to the chiller > external CO2 reactor > outlet and have your Rena XP3 as an individual pump.
You can use a sponge filter for your 1260 inlet to filter out any debris, all you will need to do is to ensure that the sponge filter is placed towards the top of the tank.

So you all think I should leave my Current 2215 & 2026 alone and and use another PowerHead for Circulation (+ C02 deffusion)
I wanna get a SEIO 620 for water movement... but planning to keep Aro... do they like fast moving water?
Baby Steel!
I would suggest that.
From what I know (correct me if I am wrong), Arowanas are pretty big, so a bit of water current won't really affect the fella.
But remember, big fish = big poop.

Thinking for getting a 1250 (1200ltr/hrs) to attached to my 2215 (620ltr/hrs) (if not sold by CNY). will upgrade the water hoses to fit accordingly...
Just got an Eden power head with oscillation output attachment for circulation too... Maybe I can to fit it to the output of the 2215. once the 2215 is properly primed, I off the 2215 pump and power on the Eden (which is attached to the putput flow). the Eden will work to suck the water up from the 2215 into the tank. wonder will this works...

I might have forgotten something. If your intention is to circulate the water in the tank, why not get a wavemaker? Hydor Koralia and Tunze has a few model of small wavemaker to push water around in the tank. Maybe this would help you to move the water in the tank. You wouldn't need to dismantle your hoses and such.![]()

I'm using the 1260 to drive my eheim 2028 and my hailea 1/4hp chiller.
inlet => 2028 => chiller => 1260 => outlet.
Never ever put the pump before the canister, as the canister is not designed to be pressurized, but instead designed to create a vacuum within.
Eheim usually uses a factor of 1.4 to guesstimate the final flowrate ( with filter media,) thus 2400L/H would be roughly left only 1700L/H. Lastly, with the height of the tank and hoses, the flowrate would be even less.
