    Hi,
recently taken over a customised tank from a friend measuring 3.5 x 2 x 2 ft . Since it comes with a nicely decorated hood with the lighting fixtures for 2 flourscent type lights, my question is is it possible to do a planted setup (i don't mind not densely planted, just maybe some plants to be on the tank)? If so, any suggestion of lighting to be used?

    Thanks

what sort of lightings you use depends on the type of plants to intend to have and whether you will be using co2.

you can check with delightings on the cost to modify the lights in your hood.

an example of their work can be seen here

What are the wattage of the tubes? You probably can keep some of the low light plants like crypts, ferns, anubias. Check if the hood has ventilation and if you can install a fan.

Thanks shadow... so my tank works out to be about 100US gallons according to the calculator, which means i need 2 tubes with roughly 100watts each..?
