My CNY's apisto wishlist is for one of our LFS to bring in good apistos at attractive prices.
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

I second that wish.
It will do good for the apisto community in here.

Er... I think at the end of the day, I can only get what's available during the time I'm visiting these places. If that particular species is not in stock, don't be disappointed.
It would be best to stay focused on certain species and excel in all aspect of their husbandary as well as learning all about their habitat, morphology, etc. It will definitely bring about much more satisfaction than replying "Er.... I have this expensive fish but I don't know much about it" when asked about it.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Not exactly, Your Ap. Cacatuoides "Triple Red" are beautiful too, and easy to keep right?![]()
There are many factors that constitudes to difficulty.
Firstly, difficulty interms of breeding. Some species may require more effort in tweaking your water parameters to get them to breed. Many times, as fish lovers, we would like to be able to see the fishes swim in the tank. So, getting them to breed, we peat, add ketapang leaves and all these turn the water brown and unsightly till we don't enjoy them anymore.
Secondly, some species are said to be more susceptable to diseases. Especially if they are Wild. Because we cannot match nature with our confined environment.
Thirdly, because they are not big fishes. We tend to keep them in small tanks. I believe most of us keep them in 1ft -2ft tanks. Small tanks means smaller margin for mistakes. Therefore, they die easily.
So, not all beautiful fishes are difficult to keep. Its more on how you keep them.

thats true benny, I totally agree with you.....after going through so much with different species of apistos, I feel that its important to focus on one or two species and specialise in it......
Feel that it'll be a waste of energy and resources to diversify into too many different species which will probably end up with dissappointing results....
Just to share some of the species I've tried: Ap. Bitaeniata (3 variants), Ap. Breitbinden, Ap. Norberti, Ap. Panduro, Ap. Eremnopye, Ap. trifasciata, blah blah blah.....
In the end, I still end up with the species I first started out with: Ap. Cacatuoides....![]()

Totally agree with you, so that dont have to source from aboard.
Yeah I believed that one should do research pertaining to husbandary etc.to fully care and appreciate the species they're intending to get. Hope I do not mislead you guys. Ok the purpose of this thread is not really to get your hands on them, as I've stated in the opening post."post some photos of dying to get or favourtie Apistogramma species". Cause I was afraid that only bros with the intention to purchase apisto from overseas will only contribute to this thread. So I've posted some of my favourite ones.
Mmm. My take on this is that some experienced breeders will be searching for more challenging species. That's why diversified. Or maybe some breeders are still searching for their all-time favourite species. Take for example you. You've tried quite a range and in the end, sticking with Ap. cacatuoides. And the reason could be it's the one you're searching for.And of course there are some who cant resist the temptation to get them.

Is it? That time saw there were altogether 3 pieces. one pair and a single piece in the partitioned tank. The other fourth piece was in the 4ft tank. And also saw a pair of Ap. iniridae on the same day. When are you going down?
Now that I realized that in couple of months time will be my exams. Aiyah, always like that one.
