Usually snails breed very fast in right conditions. My apple snails not yet multiple...hehehhe...

But one thing for sure, they eat alot...i mean alot! So it is not good to have snails in your planted tank...but also depend on type of snails.

Trumpet snails is ok for plant tanks.

Most snails are hermaphroditic, apple snails aren't.

Not much experience I am afraid.

I have heard of some other hobbyists' apple snails devouring their plants but mine only munch on rotten ones. So I figure it depends on the different type as mentioned in the apple snail website.

I have also read that they deposit their eggs above water level, but I haven't digested the whole reproduction thing as I wasn't into their reproduction when I had them.

Plenty of reference here though, http://www.applesnail.net/. Good luck with them.

I think I made another mistake. It seem like both male/ female almost look alike.

Just this morning, i found out that I have an eggs above water level. Its in pink color. Hope to get a good result on it.

Snails are exactly the easiest to sex are they? Most of the time, they look the same to me and best to get a bunch just to have a chance at a mixed sex group.

Anyway, have fun breeding your snails! Do keep us updated.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Well, if you are interested, I could sell it to you then. But I would suggest let me keep it for a while after hatch. I don't want to sell it to you, then later the snail die. At least went it is in bigger size, then I will pass it to you then.

Currently, I got few members reserving. Honestly, I m not sure how many baby snails I will be able to hatch. Its my first time.

Will keep all of you updated.

I m not sure about this. But here at Penang, its hardly you can get, just that I m lucky and got two from local lfs. Now I m looking for other type of snails... yet cannot be found in any shop!

I got mine from only RM 1.00 each, size of 50 cent shilling. But from what I heard, in KL they were selling for RM 5.00 each.

So how much are they selling in Sg?

Thank you...this few days I am busy take care of the new hatch baby snails. Lucky it was our holiday, so got few day free.

For today, almost all eggs are done. I got about 50% success hatch, the rest is either being eaten by tetra & shrimp (moving my shrimp and tetra to another tank), dry up, got fungus and cannot hatch. For the first time, I am very happy with the result. Hopefully most of it can grow to adult.
