Hi, may I have felow forumers input on the above mentioned usage for planted tank. It comes with 3D activated carbon pad. Do you guys use this or replace it with the normal sponge? Thanks.
    Cheers,

The filter type does not matter in this regard: Activated carbon is never included to be used full-time. Its only purpose is filtering out chemicals after the water has undergone some sort of chemical treatment (e.g. medicated). Keep it stashed until the need for it arises, which hopefully never does.
    Cheers

I used the two prescribed filter material, but now I removed those to put ceramic rings at the bottom, and filter wool at the top.

My shrimp tank only has ceramic rings. Whatever works.

I have one running on my 10 G tank and use another on a 15 G turtle tank. They are great filters. Silent and work well. Great flowe rate and can be adjusted to any level.
The larger replacement filter pads are the best. Have two in the larger one and one in the smaller one. Easy to clean, just swish around in the removed tank water during water cange and put back (has lasted two years and doesn't need to be replaced)
Would definately recommend for a smaller tank that is rimless (as it will not fit over rimmed tanks)
