on a sidenote, im very thankful that despite the limited time the moderators have, i am thankful, especially to vincent... there seems to be a problem activating and thankfully, vincent saw my "contact us" form and replied to me and activated my account, although the account that i wanted to activate was arashi.. but nevertheless, i'll be using this account....

Vincent would be me. You're welcomed, Arashi.
There is another moderator called Vincent. His nick is Valice.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Yup. The other Vincent is me!
Welcome to the forum. I hang around in HWZ forum once in a while too. Using the same nick. But overthere, I just a leecher of knowledge.
When we have gatherings or LFS tours or farm tours, you are definitely welcomed to join us and all hobbyists will be happy to share their knowledge with you.
It is good that you are doing the reading before the buying. Most important point to read now is how to cycle a tank to get them ready for your fishes so that they do not die on you within one week after their purchases.
Just post in the forums if you have any other questions.
Ciao!
Hi arashi13,
Welcome to the forum. Feel free to post any question when you face in the midst of learning knowledge in this hobby.

Welcome to the forum! And i've got some good news for you. Guppies require almost no budget. In fact, all you need is water, a tank, and some sort of aquatic plant.
It's the breeding that'll get to you. But fortunately, guppies are the easiest thing on earth to breed (aside from people).

lol lol...anyone know what are sponge filters? anyone have pics?
it a sponge with pipe in the center, one for water flow out the ther one for air buble. The water flow is drived using air buble, so you will need air pump. Most LFS use and sell it.
Here's one from the AQ Gallery.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Guys.. focus on the guppies. lol
hmm, i just realised the one that i used to have was a sponge filter -_-
what size of the tank is recommended for sponge filter? the current FivePlan S size, 13 litres or sth i dun tink theres enough space...
do any of the bros here just put a sponge filter without putting the oxygen thing in? anyway, do u guys think that FivePlan M size can put one? it cost $14 btw... not sure whether i should get one
Stick to your S tank. And the sponge filter can't work without the air pump (Please don't call it "Oxygen Thing" lol) because without it there'd be nothing to move the water into the sponge.
Also, you'll need to use the sponge filter(as opposed to a canister or internal filter with an impeller) because it won't kill any fry that get accidentally sucked in. I'd also recommend a smaller tank because it's easier to maintain and keep track of your fish. Also, you'll eventually start photographing the little buggers so the small tank will make things easier
Currently, I do not need any stuff besides a FivePlan M size tank. I'm currently looking for people living in the west, eg. Jurong East/West, Bukit Batok as I would like to find someone who would be able to guide me through guppy breeding, along with recommendations for places that specialise in guppy breeding, that offers nice fishes at and affordable price, or perhaps, able to let me adopt some of their beautiful guppies.
Hi arashi13,
If you would like a 'mentor' of sorts to guide you through guppy keeping, you should really look up the guppy club singapore. Dr. Ed Yeo is very friendly and passionate about the hobby and I'm sure he will introduce a lot more friends to journey together with you.

p.s. And thank you for taking the time to spell properly. We appreciate it!
