    Nice setup, i like it.
But altums look stressed a bit, why?
    Will you add another fish?

    Thanks...

The altums refused to eat the flakes for the past few days since I introduced to the tank. One of them had passed on this morning.
Trying to feed them with frozen blood worm this evening.

My target is to have 3 of it but the remaining one must live on first.

    Hi xter,

Nice unique setup. Looks like one of those amano setups that I initially favoured, large fern covered bogwood with a field of foreground plants. Will look better once the tenellus grows in.

As for your altums, did you wait for a period of time after the setup before introducing them in? Hope they begin eating soon. I had the same problem when I introduced my first few discuses too, after a while, they began eating. Had to wait for a week plus before they began eating though.

Hmmm..... I'm using the japanese hairgrass.

I waited about 1 month plus. now one gone, i hope the other one can withstand the hunger. i suspect they don't go for flakes after the live food they consumed....cos all my malayan shrimps about 50 of them are gone on the first night i introduced them. sigh...

Oops, my apologies, looked like tenellus.

Heh, altums/discus normally prefer "live" food, even in its frozen form and yes. Malayans, even yamatos will be on its choice of menu too. One way to let them cohabit together is to ensure the shrimps have lots of hiding spots/places.

You need to really work more on feeding them properly.
They will take well to a new tank and eat well right away if so.

Flake is fine but you should be adding live and frozen foods and wean them off the live slowly. You need to fatten them up really good before adding them to the new tank. They should be eating like pigs consistently. They should run up to your hand, not run away.

Scaping, you might glue some cork bark to the equipment and attach ferns etc to that, that will hide any and all of the equipment in the tank.

Hair grass is easy to deal with, use a large comb to clean it and remove any algae or much from the lawn.

Phase out the Sword plants and switch with Crypts, which tend to be less weedy/slower growth. Or use different sword plant species with narrower leaves(E uruguayensis etc)

    Hi Tom,

Thanks a lot for the insight...

The altum finally whacked the frozen worms and following your advice to pump it up.

I'm thinking of adding mosses to the equipment to hide them.

i'm running 4 x 55w in this tank, is it alright for the tank? cos i do see green spots on the leaves...

Just keep it up, 4x 55 w is ideal lighting for a 4x2x2 tank.

    More just makes things harder.
I did this same sized tank for a client. He settled on 4x 55w even though he has 6x55w, it' just looks better, does better etc with less light.

That a nice tank, good branchy bogwoods art work. Also nice cosy room, I wonder if this scape is more for the altum angels!.

thanks a lot... it's the combination of 3 bogwoods.

first time trying altums and failed...sigh.
not sure if there're any special needs for this beauty.

already brought down the PH to the desired.
    feeded....
now do they need to be in pairs?

Not too sure about altums but guess they're similar to discus. Gotta have a mature tank in order for them to survive.

once came across a book saying that for discus they will need a bare patch to allow them to feed properly or something like that. does that applies for anglefish as well? will love to see after yr tank matured. must be very relaxing sitting in front of your tank and watch the angles feed.

    Great tank
