Bought two P.scalare recently from Biotope. Thought was very interesting to see such long finned ones and the colouration on the dorsal is similar to P.altum!

Sorry for the colouration. Seems off.

    aquarium strain?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Definitely the case; given the price I paid for them. Shows how much the breeders want to try to make them look like altums.

One more picture. A tighter composition to show off the length of the dorsals and ventral fins.

I try. The WB really very off.
Cropping the base off will meant that the picture no longer 3:2 already.

Angel fishes are always a challenge to shoot in a horizontal format. The background needs to be well manage and to composition is tricky. Lastly, the fish isn't exactly co-operative either.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Yes. I agree. And I have a shock of my life now that I am looking at the pictures from my office's monitor. OMG! The colour is so totally out! Either this monitor is out or my calibration at home is out miles away.

With respect to angels in particular, what causes the bars to appear and disappear? Stress? or Health?

I think you didn't compensate for the excessive yellow.

Here's a quick job done on my PC with uncalibrated monitor. See if it's better.

    It does look better.
Where did you pull the yellow? Using colour balance or curves? Can't seem to get it right.

Using Color Balance, pulled back the yellow and increase the cyan slightly.

They still have a whole tank of mixed P.scalare, which consists of a couple of ones I showed in the picture.

Just to let you know, the ones in the picture is slightly bigger than a 50cent coin. In case you go looking for big ones.

Hope still have those that looked like my pictures, as they are really just normal P.scalare. I am looking to add a few more to my planted tank too. Starting to like angels.
