Anyone has experience on how to remove it? Currently there are more than thousand pieces in my 6 footer tangayika tank. Removing it manually daily and caused the water cloudy.

just one piece of horse face loach and your problem is over.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

If you lower the temperature, then most likely they will go into pasive and in-active, less breeding and reduce your feeding. Then they will likely to die off one by one. This is what I have tried and it works.

I have 2.5 feet planted tank. Then I add in some of my trumpet snail inside, just couple of it. Soon, found them breeding like hell. Then I lower the temperature, less feeding and now, just left couple of it.

Do horse-faced loaches only devour MTS? I've just got one and it seems to like to stir up the substrate and make the water cloudy Still see many snails except MTS are greatly reduced. Perhaps i should make all the other types of snails drop into the substrate (from leaves and glass walls?). My tank's got many small 'ring-like' snails.

Sound like horsefaced loach is good. Will hunt for it. Wondering 6ft tank need how many?
    Shawn,
My 6ft is tangayika cichlid tank. If want to chill down the temperature, i need a very powerful chiller.

    Puffer,
The 'ring-like' snail you mentioned is it the Ramshorn snail? If yes, mini puffer will take care of it.

I've about 10 horsefaced loach in my 3ft tank. Didn't use them for snail-eaters but i don't have the problem of them stirring up my substrate that much. Unless it happens to be a fidgety or nervous creature that has yet to settle down in your tank.

Here's the pic of the 'ring-like' snail i mentioned. Any suggestion how to remove them? They seem to be found mostly on leaves.

now that you said it, it all makes sense when my trumpets decrease in numbers after I changed to a new stronger fan

Wonder if mini puffer will also whack my shrimps (cherry, yamato, and crs). Heard that puffers feed on live food. Will their preference be snails before other live food i.e. shrimps?

    p/s: sorry if i got off-topic here.

Whist the Indian Dwarf Puffer can control the snail population, they will attack shrimps and well as nip on the tails/fins of other slower fishes. Do take note.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Seems to have worked for me. Not long after I have installed a chiller, I went on a snail catching mission and in four nights, I caught 300 over MTS from my 2 ft tank. But now, having my chiller controlling the temperature between 25 to 27C for the past 10 month, it seems I rarely see full grown snails in my tanks, just some tiny ones on the glass occasionally.
