Hope I'm wrong.

Hi
Errr.....correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe Dracaena sanderiana is a terrarium plant. The grass-like thingy seems like one too...

Oops... if you are correct.. then I better re-do the planting... why terrestrial plants will rot easily?
so are u suggesting me not to plant terrestrial plants?
You kena con by the LFS lah. Terrestrial (i.e. land) plants will simply die and rot underwater. Try going through the www.dennerle.de and www.tropica.com catalogues to help you identify the plants in the shops. For starters, plants that are easy are the Echinodorus (sword plants), Hygrophila species, Limnophila species, Anubias, Java ferns.
Well...u can plant terrestrial plants, but not how u did it...they can't be submersed for too long, as where they originate fr, it floods occasionally....meaning only at certain times are they submersed...
If u r looking at hardy plants to start wif, u might wanna consider echinodorus tenellus for foreground & others fr the same family for your mid & back...those fr the anubias family wld also be gd for u to try...

Acid Fish...out of curiosity....where did u get ur plants?
Is it in the East?

just took a look at your pics. Strange looking gravel, what gravel are those? how thick is the gravel, I seem to be able to see the bottom of the tank, of are those rocks?
Oh and you don't have CO2 injection. this is going to be tough. At least try DIY.

oooh and one more thing, over head filter bad for planted tank, it gets rid of whatever CO2 you managed to inject into the water []
perhaps can consider switching to keeping LH... kidding only []

The terrestrial plants in your tank will last about 3 months. They rot because they are not meant to be submerged for long periods. That's why they are called terrestrial plants.
Occassionally, there are forum outings to fish/aquatic plant farms. Look out for those.
Also, have a read thru the TheKrib. Start with the FAQ.

you can get an aquatic plant catalog from lfs.
will help you to id the plants.

Thank folks [:] now I know at least I got them all "wrong". I will re-do the planting again... which mean I need to go to Teo's farm really soon.
Ya.. thinking of removing the overhead filter and change to a internal filter. can a small size filter do the work for my 2ft tank?
FYI, the soil is volcanic soil brought from Teo's farm a week back. And the "rock" look-alike thing are ricca that tied to a net push under the soil.. my soil is about 1 inch at the front and 3 inch thick at the back
Will do up a DIY CO2 this by weekend as well.[:]
Thank again.. I will do my homework on plants before go down to Teo's farm
For internal filters for 2ft tank, see this thread. I recommend the Eheim 2006 or larger though. The Eden 316 is too small imho. Eheim is more exp, though.
As for the riccia, umm, I don't see them? I hope it's not under the gravel or rock. Since your have tied them to rocks, you can just bury half of the rock, and expose the riccia to the water.
You can go to www.tropica.com and www.dennerle.de to browse their plant catalogs.

just a general wondering...
I bought several plants from Teo Aquatic recently. Some of them were taken from pool of water, others were not growing in water. However, i know a few plants that they cultivate in terrestrial form but which can be submerged plants.
My question is : If at farms they grow plants in terrestrial form, does that mean they are the "terrestrial" plants?? or terrestrial plants are just plants that is not meant for water??
I saw the terrestrial version from his cultivation, and the submerged version in his display tank....they look different, but both healthy...
Those are probably emersed cultures of aquatic plants.
